Madhubani

Madhubani painting, also called Mithila art, comes from the Mithila region of Bihar, India, especially the Madhubani district. It is also practiced in parts of Nepal. Known for its bright colors and detailed patterns, the art often shows scenes from mythology, nature, and daily life

Madhubani paintings were first created in Mithila, the birthplace of Hindu goddess Sita. When Sita was to marry Prince Rama, her father, King Janak, asked artists to make paintings of the wedding. This tradition was started by the women of the Mithila region and passed down through generations.
